Visit Standard Deluxe and learn about the stories, creative projects, and curious details that make this place so magical and iconic. We’ll stroll through the grounds and learn about the local materials and collected objects that have been preserved, repurposed, and given new life.
Along the way, we’ll stop in the bar for a beverage and visit some of Standard Deluxe’s most distinctive spaces, including the vibrant poster gallery, which features prints from Standard Deluxe’s 35-year archive; the Feed Shak—Lake Martin’s oldest fishing lodge, repurposed as an outdoor wood-fired kitchen that welcomes guest chefs; the outdoor stage, which is the centerpiece for music events such as the Old 280 Boogie; and the Little House listening room—a one-room house turned musical haven that has hosted hundreds of artists over the years.
We’ll then head into the print shop with Alabama artist and Standard Deluxe founder Scott Peek for an in-depth exploration of silkscreen printmaking. Scott will demonstrate the process, from burning and setting up the screen to mixing ink and printing the finished piece.
Then it’s your turn. Choose from a variety of Standard Deluxe images and screens, experiment with different ink colors, and work creatively with Scott to create a unique piece of your own. The process is interactive and hands-on, and you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind silkscreen print made by you at Standard Deluxe.
